ANTIQUE CLOCK REPAIRS AND RESTORATION
For three generations, Richardsons of Ampthill have been dedicated to the repair and restoration of antique clocks. Our specialist workshops ensure that your treasured possession receives the expert care and attention it deserves.
Our Small Clocks Workshop is situated at our premises, The Market House, Ampthill, and further workshops for the repair of larger clocks and cabinet work are based within two miles of our main premises.
Work on your clock starts with a consultation with one of our experts to discuss the age and condition of your clock and give an overview of the repairs and restoration necessary. During your consultation we will also give an approximate estimate of the costs involved. For small and medium sized clocks, this is usually carried out at our shop in Ampthill. For long case clocks and larger clocks we can arrange to visit you at your home.
If you would like to proceed the work, the clock is then taken to our workshop where it is completely taken apart and each component carefully examined. Historical research is then carried out to establish the age of the clock and its maker to ensure that the work carried out is appropriate for each clock.
If requested you will be sent a report detailing the work required on the mechanism and, where necessary, the dial and case, as well as a more accurate estimate of the costs. Once you have had an opportunity to consider the report, if you wish, you can then contact us for further discussions until you are completely satisfied.
We will, of course, keep you informed of any interesting developments during the course of the work. Once the work is completed, your clock will have to undergo a rigorous testing programme, at the end of which, it will have had to work satisfactorily for at least a month. Larger clocks and long case clocks we deliver to you and set up in your home. We provide full instructions for the care of your repaired clock and a 12 months guarantee.
